Key Gestures
Frog - Put your hands by the sides of your neck and mimic the way a frog's neck expands when it breathes.
Monkey - Scratch under your arms with both hands and make a monkey face.
Toucan - Mimic a toucan's beak by placing both hands in front of your mouth.
Tiger - Cover your face with both clawed hands, then move the clawed hands sideways and outward, as if drawing stripes on your face. Example

Can you identify the animals by the sounds they make? Which animals are scary? This song allows you to take a quick, fun walk in the jungle. Stay together!
Activity Ideas
Place pictures of different jungle animals around the room, partially hidden. Tell your child/chidren you are going to go on a walk through the jungle. As you walk, sing or chant, "Walking In The Jungle." Point out different animals and say, "Stop! What's that?" Name the animals together. If it is a scary animal, run away to a "safe" area of the room.1
This song works well by having everyone in a big circle. Before you sing, practice taking three steps forward and three steps back together. Or practice forward and backwards with “Seven Steps” from the Super Simple Songs 1 CD.2
Use this song in a parent performance by having kids dress up as different jungle animals. You can make simple costumes or masks as a class activity.3

Monkeys and tigers
This game requires some space. You can play on the playground, in the gymnasium, or in a large classroom with the desks moved out of the way.
In a large space, one student is a tiger and stands in the middle of the room. All of the other students are monkeys and stand on one side of the room. The teacher asks, "Tiger, are you ready?" The tiger responds with a snarling tiger noise and tiger gestures. The teacher asks, "Monkeys, are your ready?" The monkeys respond with, "We're not afraid!" and then dance and make noises like monkeys.
The teacher says, "Ready, set, go!" The monkeys all try to run to the other side of the classroom without getting caught by the the tiger. If the tiger touches a monkey, that monkey becomes a tiger and the tigers lock arms in the middle of the room.
For the next round, the teacher says, "Tigers, are you ready?" The tigers respond with snarls and tiger gestures. "Monkeys, are you ready?" The monkeys respond with, "We're not afraid!" and then dance and howl like monkeys. The teacher says, "Ready, set, go!" The monkeys again try to reach the other side of the room without getting caught by the tigers. Any monkey who is touched by a tiger becomes a tiger.
Continue playing until all of the monkeys become tigers. As the line of tigers gets longer, there is less space for the monkey to get past. However, it also becomes more and more difficult for the tigers to move quickly as the line gets longer.
